…says Obi is a ‘one in a generation’ leader that the country should not miss.

A Chieftain of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Ebonyi State, Chief Nelson Ahamefula Akuma has called on Nigerians to do everything possible to ensure that Peter Obi is elected as president of the country come 2027.
Speaking with journalists in Lagos, Akuma who is contesting for Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone under NDC ticket, said that the only thing that would push Nigeria moving forward is revolutionary masses that would bring Peter Obi’s presidency to be.
According to him, the country at the moment is going through hardship, and the people must not let it continue beyond 2027.
He stressed that the reason why some politicians are against the NDC presidential candidate is because they know his capacity in governance and are afraid of being exposed of their deficiency.
“If people are constantly ganging up against one person, pay attention because sometimes the person standing alone is not the weak one. They are the threat, and afraid of the truth. The real ones are often isolated first, mocked and attacked because sometimes the crowds don’t need the truth.”
According to him, gullible crowds are manipulated into forming groups to silence the person who refuse to pretend like them, noting that it’s part of reasons they kick against Obi.
“My candid advice to Nigerians is, never be deceived by what people say. Observe and think deeply, because the person standing alone might be the only one brave enough to be real.
“In leadership, the first thing to look out for is character. If someone doesn’t have integrity, values and commitment to serve, no amount of feigned capacity would equate that, and this is where we are getting it wrong in this country,” mentioned Akuma.
According to him, some Nigerian politicians are looking for job in government and that is why they are eager to grab power by force. He said Peter Obi wants to go into government to serve because he was already a very successful business man.
“Unlike many Nigerian politicians whose careers were shaped within the traditional machinery of party politics, Obi arrived in public life through the private sector. Long before election campaigns turned him into a national figure, he had established himself as a successful businessman and corporate executive, serving on the boards of several companies and earning a reputation for financial discipline, strategic thinking, and sound corporate governance. The private sector became his first classroom in leadership, and there he learned lessons that have defined his political philosophy.
Those convictions are what eventually distinguished his style of governance and his public identity,” Akuma said.
Reacting to those who said Obi is not prepared for national leadership, Akuma maintained that Peter Obi’s academic record, his subsequent leadership upscaling antecedents in business and governance including global experiences speak volumes.
Speaking further, he said that the NDC presidential flag bearer whose emphasis has always been on fiscal prudence, accountability, and disciplined public finance is the only one that can save Nigeria’s collapsing economy and put the country on the path of development and progress.
Akuma said that measured against that standard, Peter Obi has become more than a perennial presidential contender, adding that he has emerged as one of the central figures in Nigeria’s endless debates about leadership, governance, and public accountability.
According to him, the NDC presidential flag bearer has altered the language of governance and shifted public discourse from the politics of grand declarations to conversations about measurable outcomes, value for money, prudent budgeting, and responsible stewardship.
