A friend of mine, Chibuike Diala posted a very important information on his Facebook page. It is about safety and hygiene in the hospitality industry.
Meanwhile, Diala is a hospitality and tourism professional with vast experience in the consultancy and advocacy including personnel training in the sector.
The eye popping interest on that post lies on the very important things we often ignore in many hotels, guest house, apartment including public and private restrooms and cloakrooms even.
He wrote:
Hygiene & Safety is no longer an option in the hospitality business. It is a national emergency.
I strongly want to advise hotel users, especially guys, to be careful whenever you book a hotel room.

I recently booked a hotel and, while checking the room before settling in, I went into the bathroom and noticed something very disturbing. The bathroom bucket contained human waste. It was then that I realized that some guests, particularly female guests, may use the bathroom buckets as makeshift toilets, urinating and defecating in them instead of using the toilet.
This experience really raised serious concerns for me about hygiene and sanitation in hotel rooms. So, please, before you settle into any hotel room, take a few minutes to inspect the bathroom and other facilities. For your safety, please dont use the bathroom buckets. You never know what the previous occupant may have left behind.
Stay careful and always check before you settle in.
